Getting Started with Tally

Complete setup guide for your custom printing business

1. Overview

Welcome to Tally! This guide will walk you through the complete setup process to get your custom printing business up and running on Shopify.

Configure General Settings

Set up your business location, allowed file types, measurement units, and appearance preferences.

Configure Product Pricing

Set prices, size limits, and options for products that will use Tally's upload widget.

Enable Theme Blocks

Add Tally's app blocks to your product pages and cart for a seamless customer experience.

Pro Tip

Use the "Super Fast EZ-Setup" option to create a pre-configured product in just 10 seconds!

2. Requirements

Before you begin, make sure you have:

Setup Requirements

A Shopify store with an Online Store 2.0 compatible theme (Dawn, Spotlight, etc.)
Tally app installed from the Shopify App Store
At least one product to enable Tally on (or use EZ-Setup to create one)
Your pricing information (price per square inch/unit)

3. Step 1: Configure General Settings

The Settings page contains global configurations that apply to your entire store.

Navigate to: Tally App → Settings

Upload Settings Tab

Configure which file types your customers can upload: PNG, JPEG, PDF, SVG, TIFF, AI, PSD

Currency & Measurements

Set your default currency (USD, EUR, GBP, etc.) and measurement preferences (Inches, Centimeters, or Millimeters).

AI Features

Enable or disable AI-powered features like image generation and editing for your customers.

Appearance Tab

Customize the look and feel of the upload widget to match your brand including colors, gradients, and your store logo.

Important

Remember to click "Save Changes" after making any modifications to your settings.

4. Step 2: Configure Product Pricing

Option A: Super Fast EZ-Setup (Recommended)

The fastest way to get started - creates a pre-configured product in seconds.

Navigate to: Tally App → Setup Instructions → Launch Super Fast EZ-Setup

Option B: Manual Setup

Configure pricing for existing products in your store.

Navigate to: Tally App → Item Filtration

Select Products to Enable

Choose which products should display the Tally upload widget.

Configure Item Settings

Go to Item Settings and select a product to configure pricing, size limits, and options.

5. Step 3: Enable Theme Blocks

Add Tally's app blocks to your theme for the upload widget to appear.

Open Theme Editor

Click "Add App Block to Theme" on the Setup Instructions page, or go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.

Add Tally Block

In the theme editor, select a product page template, click "Add section" or "Add block", and choose "Tally Quoter".

Save Theme

Click Save in the top right corner of the theme editor.

Pro Tip

Use the "Refresh Status" button on the Setup Instructions page to verify that both blocks are properly enabled.

6. Verification Checklist

Setup Complete Checklist

General settings configured (currency, measurements, file types)
At least one product has Tally pricing configured
Tally Quoter block enabled on product page template
Tally Cart Editor block enabled on cart page
Test upload completed successfully on storefront
